So we are going camping and this will be the first time we have taken Landon. Does anyone have any good tips. Also I need advice on what things would be good to make for lunch while camping. I've never really had to cook in the outdoors beyond hot dogs - now I have to make 4 days of lunches and 1 dinner. We leave in a week and a half.
Also on an unrelated note I'm in a bit of a book rut and need suggestions (yes - I've read the twilight series).

You could make Mac 'n cheese, wraps, chilli, pizza, sloppy joes, baked beans on toast, tin foil dinners, tacos, taco salad, pitas, and alomst anything in a dutch oven. I don't know what kind of cooking equipment you have at your disposal, but if you look online there are a lot of great recipes and many different ways to cook them. :)
We took the girls camping a couple of years ago. I think the hardest thing was keeping them away from obvious dangers (Camp fire, axe, lighter). The other problem is we didn't have a set plan of what we were going to do while we were there. It kinda got boring fast. They weren't really up for long nature hikes, they weren't big enough to ride their own bikes yet, we don't go fishing...etc. What did save our butts was the lake/beach and they had a playground there, although Rawd complained about how we have playgrounds at home, so it wasn't really a "camping" activity. LOL Pick your battles son!
I hope you have a really good time! :)
The camp food ideas from the last comment were pretty good, and I can't think of many others.
BUT - book suggestions I can totally give you. Go to my blog and look under "past book club reads" on my sidebar. It has two years of books, a quick summary, and what I liked and didn't like about the book on it. Hope it helps.
On our camping trips, tin foil dinners, taco salad, and hoagies are always essential meals. I cook the meat and slice everything before we go and then throw it all into the cooler. If you have a little propane camping stove, you can do almost anything - macaroni, porridge, bacon and eggs, etc.
Sleeping is tough. Be prepared for Landon (and you) getting little to no sleep in the tent. Haha. I guess it's the price you pay when camping.
