One would think since we were having our second boy we wouldn't have a ton to do. They would be wrong. Yea we have clothes covered and that even included buying this kid a new sleeper that wasn't really needed but felt he should have something of his very own to come home from the hospital in. This kids clothes needs mainly just fall into wants right now he has very little that I need to get for the first 6 months and nothing is needed for the first 3. I figure after the 6 month mark I need to wait and see how big this kid is before I fill in the gaps.
What we are having to go get is the gear. I feel this kid feel like it only got hand-me downs as Landon used all hand-me down gear. When we had Landon, Jarrett was in school and they got most of our money. We were lucky to have lots of people who lent or gave us stuff to use for him. We returned the lent stuff and not all the hand-me down stuff was going to make it through another child. An example - someone gave us a swing but since it didn't buckle it only last was about 2 months before it was unsafe. We figured once the kid could move we didn't want to put him unbuckled in the swing. Though we were still so grateful for the people who thought of us when they were getting rid of their old baby stuff. We have already thanks to kijiji found us a new swing. It is actually the swing I wanted when we had Landon. I wouldn't say we got it super cheap but it was cheaper than a new one would of cost us plus it was hardly used as it was bought by a Grandma for her grandchild who was too big by the time they came back from being overseas. We also got a car seat and we borrowed the one we used for Landon. It was nice to make that purchase after we had already had a kid as we kinda knew what features we liked and wanted.
But now here is where I would like some input. We have our basics down but are now looking at the other things and wondering if we should get them.
Item #1 - the bumbo chair - Lots of people have them and seem to love them. Does anyone have an opinion? If we get one I think we'll probably try to pick it up when we go down to the states.
Item #2- a double stroller- Landon is a runner, so we are thinking it might be good to try to contain him. The kind we are looking at is a sit and stand model by baby trend. We looked at a joovy sit and stand but it wasn't as good (it's shorter and when you put the car seat on there is no room for the older child to sit). Is there any others that anyone loves? We looked at the Phil and ted but Jarrett didn't like that the bottom seat always hit his legs and he is usually the primary stroller driver if we are both out
Item #3 - a play mat - we had like seriously no toys for Landon. We had one thing that someone gave us that he loved but we would have to press the button to make the music go like every 30 secs as I think it was designed for children a little older
Item #4 - a peek-a boob nursing cover. Does anyone have one? Do they like it that much more than just using a blanket?
Any other baby supplies that you are in love with?

I have the peek-a-boo nursing cover that I bought from Wal-Mart for $12 and I love it! I use it everywhere and I have no worries about being exposed like you would with just a blanket covering your baby's flailing arms. It's a "must have" in my books.
Try getting a bumbo chair used. They are great to have but I think $50 is a lot to spend on something that will only last a few months until they can sit on their own, or get super chubby legs...lol. I got mine from a girl who had only 1 child and wasn't going to have anymore for quite a while to justify hanging on to it. I spent $20 on it, which seemed quite reasonable to me. I also recommend finding one that has the tray that goes with it. Then you could use it as a portable "highchair".
Just my 2 cents! Good Luck! :)

I have just borrowed bumbos from friends with both babies. I find that my last baby wiggles around in it so much that it became unsafe super quick! All I did was post on my status on facebook to see if anyone had one to lend. I don't think they are worth the $.
I used the playmat tons with the 1st and hardly at all with the second. If you google "I've out grown it sales" in Edmonton, everymonth or so there is a huge indoor garage sale with just kid stuff and I have found a few great things there.
Good luck!

I didn't have a bumbo - but we borrowed a bebepod from Matt's sister. Pretty much the same thing - but they are cuter! I would also recommend buying used or just borrowing - and yes. It does work great as a portable highchair!
I had a nursing cover too. My cousin made it for me, but it's exactly the same as the ones you buy. Definitely invest!! Then you don't have to worry about your back/side/butt hanging out as well as your boobs! haha
As for the stroller - hmmm. I do think that the ones you are thinking of are a good idea. Especially since Landon is older and can walk really good - and doesn't want to be in a stroller all the time. That being said - I have never used one. Just my thoughts. I'm still in love with the Phil&Ted. It's so nice and compact (which me and Matt both agreed we would take over hitting our legs any day!)
Good luck getting all of your things together!!
Okay, I'm on my fourth, so you think I'd be set, right? Nope. I totally want a bumbo chair. I'd never heard of them before, but I've seen some around lately and they look so awesome. And I am definately getting (or making) a peekaboo nursing cover. The blankets always fall down, or get pulled down by little hands, and I would love to have one and just not worry about it.
As for the double stroller, I would totally get one. It is so great. We haven't used ours for a while since Aimee and Max do so well in the wagon, but when the babe comes, I'm sure we'll pull it out for Max and baby.
You're coming to town in July? Totally call me and we'll hit the sprinkler park together!
We've never had a swing, playmat, or bumbo chair, because we always just put Gabe on the floor. But now I'm worried that Gabe will STEP on Betsy if we put her on the floor, so I'm thinking we might need to get a few containment things that are off the floor. We'll see...
Also, we debated and debated the double stroller, too. Right now I usually carry Betsy in a front carrier and Gabe can ride in the stroller - if he wants to. We have a regular stroller and an umbrella stroller for the times that Brad and I are together AND both kids want to ride (so far, in 7 weeks, it has happened once). We do have a bike trailer that converts to a big double stroller, but kids can't ride till they're about 6 months old...but that's fine, since that's about the time she'll be too big to carry in a carrier, anyway.
One thing we didn't have with Gabe that i LOOOOOVE now (that is borrowed from a friend) is a bassinet. We kept Gabe in a pack-n-play in our room initially, and it was fine, but it's huge. The bassinet takes up hardly any space, fits through doorways, and we roll it all over the house for somewhere to put Betsy.
Good luck with the decisions!
Oh! And the nursing cover! I have one of the hooter-hider style ones (that doesn't cover your back, but has the metal to make a little hole to see the baby). Love it. They're also super easy to make, IF you have a sewing machine...if not, I think it's worth the money!
